Japanese city eyes tie-up with Compostela

CEBU, Philippines – Local officials and businessmen of Sapporo City in Japan want to establish good relationship and business opportunities in Compostela town.

Pedro Delantar Jr., president of the newly-formed Chamber of Compostela, Cebu Inc., made the announcement during a recent regular meeting of the board.

Delantar said city officials of Sapporo sent him a message signifying their interest in doing business with Compostela.

According to Delantar, Sapporo officials have asked the town's executives in the fields of tourism and business to visit the city, offering to shoulder the costs involved.

Delantar informed Mayor Joel Quiño during the meeting that city officials and businessmen of Sapporo have asked him to provide the masterplan of Compostela, especially in the area of tourism development.

He also cited the need for the municipal government of Compostela to prepare the necessary infrastructure and support needed to attract more investors to the town.
