Territorial issues cost lemonsito vendor’s life?

CEBU, Philippines – A 38-year-old lemonsito vendor was stabbed to death by his fellow sidewalk vendor on Osmeña Boulevard, Barangay Kalubihan, Cebu City Tuesday evening.

Renaldo Tanoco, a native of Barangay Napo, Carcar City temporarily staying at Freedom Park, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City, was pronounced dead on arrival at Cebu City Medical Center after sustaining stab wounds in different parts of his body.

The suspect was described to be in his 30s to 40s and was also known by the nickname "Brad."

Police investigation showed that Tanoco was selling lemonsito around 7:30 p.m. when the suspect, armed with a bladed weapon, suddenly arrived in the area.

Roger del Mar who witnessed the incident reported to the police that the suspect immediately stabbed the victim once on his left neck without any verbal exchange.

He further said that Tanoco and the suspect had earlier engaged in a heated argument over a place where they both sell lemonsito.

Elements of the Cebu City Police Office Homicide Section responded to the crime scene and recovered a blade and a broken handle believed to have been used by the suspect.

The police are still conducting follow-up operation for the arrest of the suspect who managed to escape after the incident.
