CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City Council has passed a resolution requesting Senators Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Pia Cayetano, Antonio Trillanes IV and Cynthia A. Villar to provide financial assistance for the construction of a multi-purpose building for senior citizens.
Vice Mayor Romeo Villarante and members of the City Council said the construction of a senior citizens building was identified as among the priority development projects for the conduct of public or social activities in the city.
City Councilor Socrates Fernandez, the proponent of the resolution, said the building is for the assembly and conference of the Talisay City Senior Citizens Federation that would fortify and enliven them for what he described as "meaningful dialogue and exchange of ideas."
In his resolution, Fernandez asked the four senators at least P100,000 each for the construction of the building.
"Senior citizens' dream is to become always useful to their family and community. They yearn to have a multi-purpose building where they can forge their wisdom and effort and unite themselves for projects worth-remembering them as valuable persons," the resolution read.
The lot where the proposed building will be constructed is owned by Talisay City government. — Garry B. Lao (FREEMAN)
