CEBU, Philippines - A laglag-barya gang has reportedly struck in Talisay City victimizing a 60-year-old woman inside a public utility jeepney in Barangay Tabunok on Wednesday.
Diana Marquez, a resident of Barangay Tubod, Minglanilla town, sought for police assistance upon the discovery of her lost items.
Marquez said she was heading towards Cebu City when three unidentified suspects boarded the jeepneys she was riding.
One of the suspects, she said, pretended to fall his coins and asked her to move. The suspects wanted to get the attention of the victim until they managed to get the latter's items, she claimed.
Suspects were able to cart away her wallet with P3,700 cash and different identification cards.
Senior Police Officer 1 Mikie Espina said the victim identified one of the suspects in the rouges gallery as Ruel Deiparine.
Espina and his men arrested the suspect in Barangay Tabunok and already placed behind bars, however, the complainant failed to file formal charges against Deiparine.
According to authorities, the suspect will eventually be released. (FREEMAN)
