CEBU, Philippines- A man is in critical condition after he was stabbed by a fellow construction worker while he and his friends were having a drinking spree in a videoke bar along M.C. Briones Highway in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City yesterday dawn.
Ricardo Galenza, 35, married, of Barangay, Tipolo Mandaue City was rushed to Perpetual Succor Hospital in Cebu City after he was stabbed in his right groin with the use of a chisel by Rodrigo Belicario, 55, a native of Pasig City in Metro Manila.
Police investigation revealed that prior to the incident, the victim and suspect already engaged in a fistfight in their workplace wherein the victim allegedly boxed the suspect several times due to a heated argument.
Galenza then left the construction site were the fistfight occurred and had a drinking session with friends in the said KTV bar.
However, Galenza failed to notice that the suspect tailed him to the bar. The suspect had some drinks with his friends in a separate table, police said.
When the victim was already drunk, it was at this point that Belicario then chanced to stab Galenza.
Galenza was immediately rushed by friends to the hospital while Belicario tried to escape after the incident, however, he was collared by two barangay tanods roving in the area who then brought him to Mandaue City Hospital where he tested positive for liquor test.
The suspect is presently detained at the Subangdaku Police Station pending the filing of frustrated homicide case against him.
