Talisay OKs judicial budget

CEBU, Philippines- City Council approves P13M supplemental budget covering judiciary's allowances. The Talisay City Council has approved without cut the P13 million Supplemental Budget 1 which is intended to cover the judiciary's allowances. In yesterday's session, the supplemental budget was approved without major hitches. The exact approved amount was P13,052,559.61.

City Councilor Edward Alesna, chairman of the Committee on Appropriations and Budget Management, said if the approved annual budget is not enough to render the needed services, the council can always approve supplemental budgets for special projects.

The biggest chunk of the supplemental budget covers donations and obligations for the year 2006, 2012 and 2013 amounting to P3 million, and the P1 million Other Maintenance and Operating Expenses.

Talisay City assistant budget officer Nona Narca said the budget includes P400,000 for traveling expenses and other office supplies expenses.

Narca also said the supplemental budget covers the honorarium of judges and prosecutors in the amount of P159,000. According to her, the judges are receiving P6,000 monthly honorarium while the prosecutors are receiving P5,000.

Talisay City currently has two judges, one for its Regional Trial Court and another for Municipal Trial Court. It also has eight prosecutors.

The other salient features of the supplemental budget include the P7,542,508 for the Non-Office Expenditures that covers the Historical and Cultural Activities, Revenue Generation Collection Enforcement, Youth Sports Development, Tax Collection Enforcement/Messengerial Services, Civil Service Month Celebration and Security Services.

With the approval of the council, the supplemental budget will then be transmitted to the Cebu Provincial Board for final approval.
