CEBU, Philippines - What started as an ordinary drinking spree on Sunday evening turned into a feud between a father and son in Sitio Iring, Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
The suspect was identified as Bernardo dela Rama, 31, who allegedly stabbed his father Bernardo Mandawe Sr., 56, both residents of Sitio Iring.
Initial investigation led by Police Officer Jomar Florentino of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office - Homicide Section revealed that both Bernardos were having a drinking spree with the rest of their family at around 7:30 p.m.
Mandawe, who was heavily intoxicated, reportedly confronted his son about a stealing incident. He allegedly accused his son of the said stealing.
Dela Rama, who got irked with his father's accusations, allegedly left his seat and took an unidentified bladed weapon and stabbed his father several times.
After the incident, the son ran to an undisclosed direction. The victim got multiple stab wounds on his body and was brought by his brother to the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital.
A hot pursuit operation was conducted by peace officers of Barangay Basak that resulted to the arrest of the suspect. (FREEMAN)
