CEBU, Philippines - In response to the complaints that implementation of some infrastructure projects have caused inconvenience to the public, the Lapu-Lapu City Engineering Office will be closely monitoring projects executed by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
City Engineer Allan Pedrigal wrote a letter to the DPWH regional office and informed them of the inconvenience caused by the delayed implementation of projects funded by the national government and implemented by the department.
Mayor Paz Radaza last week directed Pedrigal to look into the status of the projects implemented by DPWH, as well as the cause of the reported delay on implementation.
The city mayor said she received complaint letters from the different beach resort and hotel owners in Lapu-Lapu City, particularly in the barangays of Mactan, Marigondon and Maribago.
The widening of the Mactan Circumferential Road has been implemented by the DPWH for quite a while now, but the delay of its implementation has become a subject of complaints, mostly of tourist guests.
Pedrigal, in his letter to DPWH, said that they should adopt measures to fast-track the implementation of the road widening projects.
Earlier, Hembler Mendoza, head of the City Tourism Office admitted that the delay of road widening projects in the city has badly affected the tourism promotions of Lapu-Lapu. (FREEMAN)
