Police suspect revenge in tricycle driver’s death

CEBU, Philippines - Superintendent Resty Santos, officer-in-charge of Talisay City Police Station, suspects that the killing of a tricycle driver last Monday in Sitio Sombrea, Barangay Lawaan, Talisay City, stemmed from the killing of a mother and son in Sitio Riverside, Lawaan II last Christmas.

Manuel Caña, 45, of Barangay Lawaan II, Talisay City, while driving a tricycle, was shot to death by two men on another tricycle.

Santos told The Freeman that Manuel was a suspect in the killing of his sister-in-law Carlota Caña and his nephew Christian Caña at their home last Christmas.

Santos said after the killing of the mother and son, they invited Manuel for questioning.

Santos said charges for double murder were being readied then against Manuel.

He also said the police are focused on the case. — (FREEMAN)
