Talisay to offer cash to tipsters

CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City peace and order council plans to offer money to anyone for tips about the presence of illegal gambling machines which will lead to confiscation.

The idea arose recently following reports that video karera machines have again surfaced in the barangays.

Councilor Danilo Caballero, who presides over the peace and order council, said the objective is to regain the city’s image as being free from illegal gambling, which was true during the time of vice mayor Aberdovey Belleza.

“It was agreed nga mohatag ta og incentives to anybody nga makahatag og tip sa video karera machines sa ilang lugar,” city information officer Vince Monterde told The Freeman after the council meeting.

Monterde said the recommendation will be submitted to Mayor Johnny De los Reyes for approval.

Machines will be confiscated and the tipster will receive P1,000, which will be taken from the city mayor’s intelligence fund, he said.

“There will be no let-up in this particular drive,” Caballero said. –(FREEMAN)
