Local actor “mauled”

CEBU, Philippines - A local television actor sustained bruises in his face and a swollen eye after he was allegedly mauled by a coast guard officer inside a resto bar in Barangay Basak, Mandaue City yesterday dawn.

Christian Tariman, 26, resident of Barangay Basak-Pardo, Cebu City, reported to the police station together with his friends and alleged that their group was confronted with another group while having a drinking session inside a resto bar at a mall in Mandaue.

Tariman accused Ensign Christian Jazmin, 35, detailed at a coast guard station in Tayud Consolacion, of allegedly starting the commotion. Tariman, who claims to be an actor of the local TV series “Antigo” aired over TV 5, said they were on a separate table having drinking session when the group of Jazmin approached them and the mauling ensued.

It was not immediately known what prompted the group of Jazmin to confront Tariman’s group. Basak Police Station Chief, Inspector Genilo Veraque, said that both groups reported the incident to them. Veraque said Tariman reported the incident first but Jazmin’s group also came later to report the same incident.

Veraque said both groups vowed to press charges. Aside from the criminal complaint for physical injuries, Jazmin could also be charged administratively before the Office of the Ombudsman for being a government employee. (FREEMAN)
