Building for village officials envisioned

CEBU, Philippines - Incumbent Barangay Bulacao Captain Raul Cabañero, Alayon’s bet in the Association of  Barangay Councils election for president in Talisay City, wants a building built for barangay officials from the city’s 22 barangays.

“I want to put an identity sa ABC, that we are not squatters,” Cabañero, who is on his third and last term, said.

The winner in the ABC election will sit as an ex-officio member of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

Cabañero, who was endorsed by the Alayon party headed by first district Rep. Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas, will run against Liberal Party Barangay Linao Captain Ofelia Ylanan, the wife of  Talisay City Councilor Valeriano Ylanan.

The Alayon group captured an overwhelming majority in the last barangay elections, with 18 out of 22 candidates.

According to Cabañero, the city government can afford to set aside a lot for the construction of the building. “The city has enough lots so we can have our own building,” he said.

Cabañero is confident he will win in the election.  (FREEMAN)
