Civic groups to raise funds for earthquake, typhoon victims

CEBU, Philippines -  Different civic organizations and concerned individuals in Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu, and Cebu cities have teamed up to raise funds for typhoon victims in northern Cebu towns, Tacloban City, and neighboring towns in Leyte and Samar and in Bohol.

A concert entitled “Barug Bisayas” is being organized by the group in cooperation with J Centre Mall, JCI International, JCI Zugbuana, and JCI Cebu-Mactan Channel, and Quota International of Cebu South.

Former Calape town mayor Ernest Herrera of Bohol province in a statement sent to The Freeman said a concert with the country’s two premiere bands, Side A and Freestyle, is scheduled on December 6 at 8:00 p.m. at J Centre Mall Convention Center, A.S. Fortuna in Mandaue City.

Tickets are priced at P400.

Both bands and all artists that will perform at the concert have waived their talent fees for this event.

Herrera said all proceeds of the concert will be used to rebuild houses destroyed by the typhoon Yolanda and the recent earthquake.

The public are advised to text 09173266051-Ernest; 09273966838-June; 09999950323-Christi for tickets.

Herrera told The Freeman he saw the devastation wrought by the typhoon in Tacloban, Ormoc cities, and the earthquake in Bohol last week when he visited these places with his uncle, former vice governor Julius Herrera of Bohol.  (FREEMAN)
