Naga trader shot to death

CEBU, Philippines - Early yesterday morning, a man shot to death a businessman who was at the time attending to a customer inside his business establishment in barangay Tuyan, Naga City was shot to death.

Renante Bacus, 39, and owner of Bacus Construction Supply, died of multiple gunshot wounds in the head and different parts of his body after getting shot at close range.

The gunman wore a bonnet, a jacket, and a pair of blue shorts, witnesses said.

Bacus was no longer taken to hospital after he was declared dead by paramedics.

Police are yet to determine the motive for the killing.

Investigator SPO2 Ian Quitayin said Bacus was attending to a customer at around 8:30 a.m. when a man on board a motorcycle arrived and entered the establishment and shot him.

The gunman took Bacus’s wallet of and fired another shot before leaving the scene.

The wallet was later found several meters away from the area.

Witnesses claimed they saw another motorcycle with two men on board a few meters away.

Both motorcycles sped off towards Cebu City.

Police recovered two empty shells of a .45 cal. pistol.

Quitayin said Bacus had an argument with somebody but the family is not considering it as the motive for the killing.

“Dunay nakalalis pero dili sila sure nga mao na gyud to,” Quitayin said in a phone interview. — (FREEMAN)
