CEBU, Philippines - After telling all and sundry that the city district hospital is the beneficiary of P30 million from the Department of Health, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza now hears that the building being occupied by the hospital belongs to the provincial government.
She said she remembers Capitol, through a memorandum of agreement signed by former Cebu governor Gwen Garcia and former mayor Arturo Radaza, turning over the supervision of the hospital to the city after it became a lone congressional district.
The mayor said she was told the building presently occupied by the city hospital is still owned by the provincial government but the property occupied by the hospital is owned by the city government.
But she said the city government always foots the bill for the building's upkeep.
"Susihon nato kon unsa gayud ang status sa building nga mao karon ang gigamit sa atong city hospital," Radaza said.
Of the P30 million, P20 million will be spent on the repair of the building while the P10 million will be used for the procurement of medical equipment. (FREEMAN)
