CEBU, Philippines - A man was in critical condition when taken to hospital Monday evening for stab wounds inflicted by his allegedly jealous wife.
Carmelito Curib, 42, sustained wounds on the forearm and on the chest.
Curib was immediately taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
Wife Elvira Curib, 40, surrendered to village watchmen and was eventually turned over to the police.
Elvira also surrendered two kitchen knives. Each measures 12 inches long.
The police said the couple often quarreled because of jealousy, with the wifesuspecting her husband of carrying affairs with other women.
Before the stabbing, Carmelito boxed and kicked Elvira.
The woman fought back and managed to grab the knives, which were tucked in Carmelito’s waist.
Carmelito picked up a piece of wood and struck his wife, bruising her left arm.But Elvira retaliated using the knives.
She is now detained in the Talisay City detention cell. (FREEMAN)
