CEBU, Philippines - Two men were arrested late Monday evening for attempting to kill policemen at a checkpoint at Ramona Village, barangay San Isidro, Talisay City.
At the checkpoint, Jake Solis Macarambon, 33, and Elmer Aballe Macarambon, 30, got off from their motorcycle and pulled out guns.
But when the guns failed to discharge, the older Macarambon lobbed a grenade at the police but this failed to explode.
The police seized from the two men a .38 caliber revolver with six live bullets, a caliber .22 magnum with five bullets, and the hand grenade that turned out to be a dud.
Superintendent Resty Santos, officer-in-charge of Talisay City Police Station, said the two men will face charges of illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
Jake is allegedly from Tudela, Misamis Occidental and Elmer a native of Calambogan in Mindanao.
Santos said Elmer told the police that Jake is his uncle but Jake allegedly denied being Elmer’s relative. (FREEMAN)
