Ozamiz gangsters behind LBC robbery

CEBU, Philippines - The two men arrested Monday for robbing an LBC courier service branch in barangay Tabok, Mandaue City allegedly are members of the notorious Ozamiz City robbery gang, the police said.

The live-in partner of suspect Glenn Flores said the other suspect who gave his name as Marvin Mabuyo is actually Albert Sialana and that both men are from Ozamiz City, not from Cagayan de Oro City as claimed.

Sialana, who also uses the aliases “Agaton” and “Tonton,” is a resident of barangay San Roque, Ozamiz City, while Flores is a resident of sitio Traffic Light, barangay Tinago, Ozamiz City.

SPO2 Marcos Noval, investigator of the Investigative and Detective Management Branch (IDMB), said the two men also robbed the LBC Tabok branch on May 16 this year and were also positively identified as having been involved in a series of robberies in the city recently.

The men admitted having robbed the Petron gasoline station at Ouano Avenue of P800 and robbed a businessman last August 31 of P200,000.

The two men admitted having stolen a motorcycle in barangay Centro before robbing the LBC branch in Tabok.

After stealing the motorcycle, they went to sitio Buaya in barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City to rob the MLhuillier pawn shop branch.

The shop’s personnel foiled the robbery by setting off the alarm.

From there, they went to Tabok where they robbed the LBC branch of P5,000.

They were eventually arrested and the money recovered after a chase led by Basak police station chief P Sr./Insp. Genilo Veraque.

Seized from the two men were a loaded .357 revolver, shabu, and the money taken from LBC.

The suspects are detained at the Basak police station. (FREEMAN)
