CEBU, Philippines - Today, Mandaue City begins to celebrate its 44th Charter Day with activities lasting for a week.
The celebration carries the theme Mandaue: Cradle of Love, Prosperity, and Opportunity.
In line of the celebration, each city hall regular employee will receive P10,000 as bonus while job order workers will get P6,000 each.
Each one of the Clean and Green workers will also be given P4,000.
The daily/nightly activities starting today include August 27, 8 am, at Heritage Plaza – Voc-tech skills competition in balloon designing, delicacies (3 categories); 8 am to 5 pm, JCentre Mall, Oratorical and Trivia Contest; 7 pm, Heritage Plaza – contest: dance, Sayaw Pinoy, singing and guitar duet; Aug. 28 – 3 pm, City’s Hall of Fame (session hall), signing of twinning agreement with Gwangju City, South Korea; 8 pm, Heritage Plaza, Cultural Presentation - Mandaue: Kagahapon ug Karon; Aug. 29, 5 am to 10 am, Heritage Plaza, Food Festival and Trade Fair; 8 pm, Heritage Plaza, cultural show by Mandaue School for the Arts; Aug. 30, Mandaue Food Festival and Trade Fair; 10am, ceremonial switch on of traffic lights; 1 pm, Hall of Fame, signing of deed of donation for the Hall of Justice expansion project; 3 pm, foot parade (Prince Warehouse to Sports Complex), 5 pm, concelebrated mass; 7 pm, Sports Complex, Awards night, 8 pm, Heritage Plaza, bisrock band; Aug. 31, 8 am to 5 pm, Food Festival and Trade Fair; 8 pm, Heritage plaza, acoustic band.
Councilor Diosdado Suico, chairman of the executive committee tasked to oversee the celebration said highlighting the activities is the ceremonial switch-on of the new modern traffic lights installed in the city’s nine major intersections.
The ceremony will be held at 10 am, this Friday at the Bantay Mandaue Command Center or the Mandaue Integrated Response System Command Center located at the side of city hall.
Suico also said the city is looking forward to a bigger celebration next year when it celebrates its 45th cityhood anniversary.
