CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Mayor Johnny delos Reyes withdrew Friday his executive order which directed a contractor and the Department of Public Works and Highways to stop the asphalting of a road from barangay Mohon to barangay Biasong.
Delos Reyes told The Freeman yesterday that he issued the order because the contractor and the DPWH failed to inform his office about the project.
But lifted it after a meeting with DPWH officials.
De los Reyes said the city has allocated P20M and early this month the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) gave P2.4 million for the road repair.
On other hand, former first district Representative Eduardo Gullas said the national government also allocated P16 million for the project.
He said through his efforts the P10 million came from Senator Juan Ponce Enrile and the P6 million from former Senate President Manny Villar.
The P6 million covers road concreting from barangay Langtad to Cabungahan, Naga City, barangay Lawaan I, Talisay City, Camp 7 and Tungkil in Minglanilla town, and asphalting, repair and rehabilitation of the roads in Talisay City. (FREEMAN)
