CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City government has awarded the city’s top 20 taxpayers for 2012 during an awarding ceremony held Friday evening at the Hoopsdome.
These year’s Top 20 Taxpayers are the Mactan Shangri-la Hotel and Resort Inc, General Milling Corp., Taiyo Yuden (PHILS) Corp., Lear Automotives Phils, Inc, Phil BXT Corp./Imperial Palace Waterpark Resort and Spa, Fairchild Semi conductors (PHILS.) Hongkong, Taipan Development Corp /Gaisano Island Mall, Muramoto Audio –Visual Phils. Inc, Gaisano Grandmall of Mactan, Philippine Lino Corp., Plantation Bay Holdings Corp., Yamashin Cebu Filter MFG Corp., Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino Inc., Oikonomoto’s Int’l Res. Corp, Filinvest Group of Companies, Keppel Cebu Shipyard Inc, Lexmark Int’l Phils.Inc., Seascapes Resort Inc., Prohomes Devt Inc., and TMX Phils Inc.
Plaques of appreciation were given to the top 20 taxpayers.
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza in her sppech vowed that in her second term of office, she assured that there will be no more darkness in the city’s street, no more dirty public market and no more traffic congestion.
She also assured taxpayers that the city’s garbage collection will become more efficient and the peace and order will be maintained.
Radaza said the city is also working to create a brand of its own, as the city will aggressively market Lapu-Lapu City to foreign investors and tourists.
“I believe we can achieve what we set out to do if we live up to the brand,†Radaza said.
She also asked the awardees to urge fellow taxpayers to use their influence to convince the Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) to settle its P1.7 billion tax obligation to the city.
The amount can help solve the shortage of classrooms in the city.
Radaza said she was able to reduce the shortage of classrooms in public schools by 30 percent during her first term of office. She aims to further reduce it by 50 percent.
MCIAA unpaid taxes will also improve the city’s road network and brighten up the city’s streets. (FREEMAN)
