In Lapu-lapu city Ending contract with college prexy sought

CEBU, Philippines - During the last regular session of the City Council Education Chairman  Councilor Eduardo Cuizon, chairperson of the committee on education, recommended the early termination of the contract of Ramos as consultant and president of the Lapu-Lapu City College.

The council was unimpressed with Ramos’ explanation as regards the alleged fees collected from students which remain unremitted to the city treasurer until now and that the collection was made without the knowledge and approval of the board of trustees of the college.

Mayor Paz Radaza has yet to make a decision whether to keep Ramos or let him go.

Ramos was hired during the time of former mayor Arturo Radaza as education consultant and president of the Lapu-Lapu City College.

Last month, the Commission on Audit found out that P503,000 collected as fees was not remitted to the city treasurer’s office.

Ramos also serves as president of the Talisay City College but is under suspension while allegations of collection of fees are being investigated.

Ramos has denied allegations he pocketed the money. (FREEMAN)
