CEBU, Philippines - The police arrested Thursday an alleged drug addict for allegedly attempting to cut off the head of a ten-month-old boy in barangay Baring, Olango Island, Lapu-Lapu City.
Arrested was one Johnny Alindajao, a resident of Olango.
P/SInsp. Roger Balansag Quijano of Olango police station 1 said an armed Alindajao entered the house of one Erlinda Tundag and grabbed the boy who was crawling on the floor.
He brought down the edge of a 9-inch bolo on boy’s neck and allegedly began to make sweeping strokes.
Tundag, the grandmother of the boy, shouted for help when she saw what Alindajao was doing to her grandson.
Alindajao fled but was later arrested.
The bolo only left bruises on the boy’s neck, said the police, who found the weapon to be dull.
Found in Alindajao’s possession were white crystalline powder believed to be shabu.
Quijano said Alindajao could have been under the influence of shabu when the crime was committed. (FREEMAN)
