Senior citizens in Mandaue to receive cash

CEBU, Philippines - Some 10,000 senior citizens in Mandaue City will receive their mid-year financial assistance from the city government starting Monday.

Joseph Pialago, a social worker from the City Social Welfare and Services (CSWS), said senior citizens from barangays Centro, Cambaro, Guizo and Mantuyong are set to receive P1,000 each on Monday, at 1 p.m. at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

The amount constitutes half of the annual financial assistance allotted to senior citizens.

The balance of P1,000 will be released at the end of the year.

This will be preceded with a ceremonial distribution by Mayor Jonas Cortes and Gov. Hilario Davide III.

According to Pielago, starting July 9, Tuesday, personnel from the city treasurer’s office, in coordination with the barangay-based senior citizens’ organizations, will go to the different barangays to distribute cash to senior citizens.

The names of beneficiaries are found on the official list approved by the local chapter officials and the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA).

Following is the schedule of distribution: July 9 – Alang-alang, Umapad, Opao, Looc, Paknaan, and Labogon; July 10 – Ibabao-Estancia, Basak, Jagobiao, Canduman, Maguikay, and Cabancalan; July 11 – Tabok, Pagsabungan, Tingub, Cubacub, Casili, and Tawason; July 12 – Tipolo. (FREEMAN)
