Majority in Talisay SP to back JVR programs

CEBU, Philippines - Councilor Richard Francis “Choy” Aznar said the majority in the Talisay City council will support the new administration’s programs and will never be an opponent of change.

Aznar told reporters that the members of the majority bloc, now the opposition in the city council, have made it clear to Mayor-elect Johnny Delos Reyes that they would be scrutinizers but definitely not obstructionists.

He said the opposition will work hand in hand with the minority for the good of city residents.

Councilors Danny Caballero, Val Ylanan, and Aldin Diaz comprise the minority, all identified with the Liberal Party while the opposition or majority has Councilors Aznar, Antonio Bacaltos Jr., Dortheo Emit, outgoing mayor and councilor-elect Socrates Fernandez, Eduardo Gullas III, Edward Alesna, and Dennis Basillote.

The incoming presiding officer is Vice Mayor-elect Romeo Villarante, who is with LP.

On the other hand, Villarante said councilors that belong to the majority can only hire five job orders but the number would likely rise next month.

The minority in the outgoing administration also were given the same number of quotas for job orders. (FREEMAN)
