“Local boys” pulled off robbery in Naga

CEBU, Philippines - Persons involved in the robbery of MLhuillier Kwarta Padala in Naga City last week are “local boys” who operate in the province and in Cebu City, Sr. Supt. Patrocinio Comendador said.

Comendador, Cebu Provincial Police Office director, presumes the robbers were neophytes if the execution of the crime is any indication.

“Karon dili pa suweto kaayo kay kulang pa sa planning but kursunada na mutira,” Comendador said.

During a case conference in Naga City just recently, Comendador said the police are comparing notes to check the identities of the robbers.

“Gusto nako nga makuha ni namo kay karon gamay pa ni pero possible mudako na sunod ang kantidad nga target nila,” he said.

Police expect the robbers to strike again.

About P3,000 was taken by two robbers from MLhuillier Kwarta Padala in barangay Inayagan.

It was the second financial establishment robbed in two days.

One of the two robbers went inside the MLhuillier Kwarta Padala and pretended to send cash to a relative when he suddenly aimed a handgun at a teller and asked for the money.

Both robbers hurriedly left the establishment on foot.   The robbery was done in just a minute.

Two days before the Naga incident, a Palawan pawnshop branch a few meters away from the police station in Mabolo, Cebu City was also robbed.

The outlet’s manager and cashiers, together with one female customer, entered the establishment at 8:00 a.m. when two men, whom they thought were also customers, also went inside but declared a robbery.

The robbers ran off with some P150,000 and gadgets.

Police said they are yet to identify the suspect as victims themselves did not see the robbers’ faces because they were made to lie down when the robbery was declared.

Police have been reiterating that financial establishments such as Palawan Express Pera Padala, MLhuillier Kwarta Padala and other financial establishments should employ security guards and install security cameras for security reasons. (FREEMAN)
