CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City Association of Barangay Councils president Ernie Manatad is pushing for the enforcement of an ordinance that prohibits minors from entering internet cafes during school hours and after 10 p.m.
He said he will ask barangay captains to strictly enforce the ordinance when they gather for their monthly meeting.
Internet cafes that violate the ordinance will be summoned to the barangay hall.
Children caught inside internet cafes during school hours and after curfew hours will be taken to the barangay hall, where their parents can claim them.
“This is a common concern not only by barangay officials but the city officials. Mayor Jonas has instructed us to do something about the complaints of parents that their children are getting addicted to computer games,†Manatad said. (FREEMAN)
