CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City College board of trustees has approved a resolution to convert and use the Lagtang public market as an extension of Talisay City College.
In a special meeting, the Talisay City College board of trustees, led by Cebu first district Rep. Eduardo Gullas as honorary chairman and Mayor Socrates C. Fernandez as chairman of the board, approved Resolution No. 16, Series of 2013, converting the market premises as an extension of the college.
The college in barangay Poblacion offers bachelor courses while the future school in Lagtang will offer technical and vocational courses such as welding, electronics, housekeeping, cooking and baking, and bartending.
During the meeting, Gullas said a memorandum of agreement with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority will be signed leading to the accreditation of the school.
Through Gullas’ efforts, TESDA will accommodate the increasing number of poor but deserving students whose parents cannot afford to send them to expensive educational institutions.
Gullas said the school will benefit Talisay’s high school graduates.
Those who wish to acquire or upgrade skills will also be accommodated . (FREEMAN)
