It’s definite: Impossible for politicians to toy with 4Ps program

CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Social Welfare and Development-7 said it has yet to receive complaints regarding politicians  using the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) as leverage with voters.

DSWD 7 4Ps information officer Aileen Lariba said she will verify allegations the Alayon party in Talisay City had threatened to remove beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4P’s) from the official list if they fail to attend Alayon rallies.

A former barangay health worker (BHW) of barangay Tanke Marilyn Cabanes has claimed she lost her job and fears she could also be delisted from the 4P’s records because she was caught attending a campaign rally of the Liberal Party.

“We will check if it is true,” Lariba told The Freeman.

There are 1,884 registered beneficiaries of the 4Ps in Talisay City.

According to Lariba, the city government or a politician cannot delist or erase the names from the list of beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4P’s) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), except the beneficiary himself or herself.

Lariba said no person or any public official has the power or authority to remove any beneficiary from the 4P’s program.

“It is the beneficiary himself or herself who can only delete his or her name from the list for non-compliance of any of the obligations required by DSWD as 4P’s beneficiary,” she said.

Among the requirements include attendance in the assembly called by DSWD, periodic medical checkup of mothers and children under 4P’s, periodic medical checkup of children at the local health center, regular attendance in school, and other obligations.

4P’s is a 4-year program of DSWD that envisions uplifting the personal and family well-being of the beneficiaries.

Partner agencies of 4P’s reported positive results on the part of children and parents who are beneficiaries of the program. (FREEMAN)
