CEBU, Philippines - A murder suspect who is an alleged toughie is in critical condition after he was shot by an unidentified man during a variety show in barangay Poblacion 1, Carcar City late Friday night.
Mark Alinton, 19, is now fighting for his life at the hospital after getting shot on the chest, the bullet going out of his nape.
Alinton, a resident of barangay Bolinawan, was watching a variety show as part of the activities for the barangay’s fiesta celebration when a lone gunman shot him at 10:30 p.m.
The assailant fled on foot and escaped from pursuing police while Alinton was taken to the city hospital and later transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center here in Cebu City owing to his serious condition.
Police believed the assailant may have been offended by the victim, who is a known toughie in their area.
The alleged toughie is also facing a murder case for reportedly killing a neighbor last January.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man died after he was repeatedly shot on the head while sleeping in barangay Ibo, Lapu-Lapu City last Friday night.
Jomar Mejia was sleeping at his sibling’s house when an unidentified man forced his way in and shot him at close range.
Mejia died on the way to the Danao City District Hospital.
Police are still trying to determine the motive behind the attack. (FREEMAN)
