CEBU, Philippines - The livelihood of members of the Federation of Persons with Disabilities in Mandaue City has received a boost from the Pag-ibig Fund with a donation of equipment.
“We thank the donor for helping us become productive members of society,†said Michael Pielago, president of the federation during the turnover ceremony held at the PWD livelihood center located at the City Social Welfare Services (CSWS) compound.
The P68,000 worth of equipment includes a desktop computer, a printing cutter, a machine for mug and t-shirt printing, tables, and materials for the massage center.
Victoria de la Pena, vice-president of Pag-ibig Fund said the donation is part of the Social Corporate Responsibility of the government corporation.
The first donation included a seed fund for individual business such as a cellular phone repair shop.
“We are thinking of enrolling the PWDs in the city with Pag-ibig Fund and other welfare agencies so they can also avail of the benefits including the housing program,†she said.
Acting Mayor Glenn Bercede for his part said the city considers PWDs as partners and have hired them to work in some government offices.
With the acquisition of new printing equipment, Bercede offered a t-shirt printing job for the group. (FREEMAN)
