CEBU, Philippines - A road widening project in Lapu-Lapu City will start in the second quarter of this year after President Benigno Aquino III promised to pour in P400 million.
Although the administration of Mayor Paz Radaza is not allied with the Aquino administration, she supports his administration’s programs.
The President, during his visit early this week to inaugurate the Mactan Newtown Center, has promised Radaza he will allot P400 million for the project, which will start after the election.
About P300 million will go to widening while the remaining P100 million will be spent on lot acquisition.
To be widened is the road that starts from the Philippine Export Processing Zone Authority (PEZA) in barangay Pusok up to barangay Mactan as well as the circumferential road.
Radaza said some establishments will be affected including the barangay Ibo Elementary School and a skywalk in barangay Buaya.
