CEBU, Philippines - A man was killed while two others were wounded in separate shooting incidents in Lapu-Lapu City on New Year’s Eve.
In barangay Babag Uno, two men were lighting firecrackers around midnight when a neighbor allegedly shot them.
Edgar Tumulak, 41, a resident of the place, died after getting a bullet in the face.
Jeffrey Coro, 46, was hit in the right shoulder.
The police identified the attacker as Arnulfo Cavan, 39, jobless.
PO1 Jade Querubin of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office Homicide Section said the two men were exploding firecrackers outside Cavan’s house.
Querubin said Cavan and the two men had argued before the shooting.
The police recovered a gun and two magazines with six bullets in it.
Querubin said Tumulak owed Cavan some money, and Tumulak’s failure to pay may have driven Cavan to kill him.
Cavan, who is detained at the LLCPO holding cell, will face murder and frustrated homicide charges.
On the same day at 2:30 a.m., Joshua Bacalso, 19, was shot and wounded on the right arm while drinking with friends in barangay Basak.
He was allegedly shot by two unidentified men on a motorcycle.
Bacalso was immediately taken to the Lapu-Lapu City Hospital.
