Retired soldier held for gun possession

CEBU, Philippines - A retired Philippine Army soldier was arrested Monday evening for illegal possession of firearms and physical injury.

The police arrested Orlando Tolentino Baclaan after John Caballes complained being hit on the forehead with a gun by his brother-in-law.

According to Chief Investigator SPO4 Riolito Jaclaan, the complainant was watching television when he heard a gunshot.

Caballes immediately went to Baclaan’s room and was suddenly hit on his forehead with a gun, Jaclaan said.

Caballes, who is a security guard, grabbed Baclaan’s caliber .38 revolver.

Later, Caballes reported the incident to the police.

In the course of the interrogation, Baclaan confessed owning another firearm.

PO3 Mario Agda and Diosdado Parejas went to Baclaan’s house in Omega Street in barangay Apas, Cebu City where they found a caliber .45 pistol. — Jainar, Julit C.   AMBC4 (USJR INTERN) (FREEMAN)
