CEBU, Philippines — Toyota Team Cebu (TTC) positioned itself as a strong title contender following a remarkable performance in Round 2 of the 2024 Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup at the Clark International Speedway in Mabalacat, Pampanga recently.
TTC’s drivers are in contention for the championship crown in all three categories, thanks to their consistent showing despite being confronted with many challenges.
After two rounds of action, Russel Cabrera stood at second place in the Super Sporting Class standings, with Jarond Mesina holding the same spot in the Sporting Class.
Rex Abrenilla, on the other hand, is running third in the Promotional Class.
In the Team Championship, TTC is currently tied for first ahead of the season finale on November 7-9.
“Round 2 has always been tough for Toyota Team Cebu in the nine years that we’ve been in the Vios Cup. Nevertheless, we will have to go back to the drawing board and draft a more exact plan in winning the overall championship,” said TTC team manager Lord Seno.
“Proud of our drivers particularly Johndale Dy for calming his nerves and getting a race win. Rex Abrenilla as well for being very consistent. We’re now tied for the lead in the Team Championship standings going to leg 3, but we’ve done this before and we will bounce back in the finale,” Seno added.
