CEBU, Philippines — Teams from Jugan and Cabangahan booked championship tickets in their respective divisions in the 14th Mayor Teresa “Nene” P. Alegado Cup Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion, Cebu.
In the midget class, Jugan swept Cabangahan in their best-of-three semifinal series with a thrilling 56-53 win in Game 2.
John Broa, Jerick Rivera, and James Clit Rosell combined for 38 points for Jugan, which will take on either Pulpogan or Lamac in the finals.
Lamac lived and fight for another day after getting back at Pulpogan, 89-82, in the other midget semis. Cliff Raven Presbitero paced Lamac with 35 points followed by Kent Bryan Mendoza with 21 points.
On the other hand, Remart Jagdon and John Kervin Garcia connived for 33 points while Marvin Devilla added 11 points as Cabangahan finished off of Casili, 77-70, to barge into the SK category finals against either Pulpogan or Pitogo.
Pitogo forged a rubber match after getting past Pulpogan via an 85-84 cliffhanger behind the efforts of Jevie Pepito and James Genos who tallied 44 points in between them.
In the seniors level, Nangka drew first blood against Jugan, 102-92, in their race-to-2 semis duel.
Romar Ponce and Benson Culango conspired for 41 points for Nangka, while Charles Singson chipped in with 16 markers.
