Sibonga breaks three-game jinx in Cabaron Cup

CEBU, Philippines — James Martin and Ehman Janson Suarez combined for 76 points as Sibonga drubbed Alcantara, 113-105, for its first win in the Mayor Inocentes Cabaron Inter-town Invitational Basketball Tournament over the weekend at the Moalboal covered court.

Martin exploded for 44 points while Suarez tossed in 12 of his 32 points in the second period as Sibonga finally snapped out of their three-game jinx.

Martin dropped 15 points in the opening session, and then fired 16 in the third canto to help Sibonga erase a 57-65 deficit at halfime and move ahead in the fourth for good.

CJ Ypanto finished with 27 points, Rutchien Libato scored 24, while JC Ypanto sank six 3-pointers of his 20 points but their efforts went for naught as listless Alcantara crashed to its fourth consecutive loss.

On ther hand, Aloguinsan jumped to second place in Group A with a 105-81 thrashing of Ronda.

Andre Caminos sizzled with 21 points in Aloguinsan’s wire-to-wire victory.
