CEBU, Philippines — Despite missing in action for several months due to the sports lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic, Cebuano sharpshooter Roygbiv “Roy” Barro did not show any signs of rust upon his return to the firing range.
Still armed with steady shooting hands and remarkable marksmanship, Barro racked up several championship titles in various competitions he joined up in Manila in just a one-month span to end his 2020 campaign in resounding fashion.
The 20-year-old Barro first topped the juniors category of the 18th Mac Mac Cup in Plaridel, Bulacan last November 28-29.

Barro then helped the Laguna-Practical Shooting Group (LAG-PSG), his mother gun club, to a fouth place finish overall in the standard division of the 24th Battle of the Gun Clubs last December 9-13 at the Armscor Firing Range in Marikina City.
In the individual result of prestigious tournament that drew the country’s best practical shooters, Barro came out No.22 overall among the 149 top sharpshooters in the Philippines.
Barro attributed his success to his rigid training regimen under LAG-PSG’s guidance.
“It’s because of my training in LAG-PSG and my discipline while were still on lockdown. In training, I’ve been assessed by the honorable members of LAG-PSG and the top sharpshooters in the whole Philippines like Alfredo “Jun Cats” Catalan, Johann Abanilla, Aldrin Gonzales, Evelyn Woods, Genesis Pible, Lito Pible and the world champion BroTecson,” said Barro.
