CEBU, Philippines — Norman Joseph Enriquez of the University of the Visayas clinched his second title in one month after dominating the 6th Mayor Mariano Martinez Cup tennis tournament at the San Remigio Lawn Tennis Association (SARELTA) courts in San Remigio, northern town of Cebu.
Fresh from succesful campaign in the Saulog Open title in Tagbilaran, Enriquez came to win another men’s singles crown at the expense of Balamban’s Francis Parangan, 8-4.
Enriquez opened his bid with a lopsided 8-2 win against Compostela’s Jomel Gamoneda before dumping City of Naga’s Venz Alforque, 8-1 in the quarterfinals.
He then defeated Christian “Babaw” Tiongko in the semis before, 8-3.
For Enriquez, winning back-to-back championship is a big boost going to his campaign in the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) National Games in Davao City.
