CEBU, Philippines - The finale of the seven-leg 1st Mayor Paz Radaza Cycling Championship Series will take place today at the Hoopsdome in Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City.
Xterra pro Joseph Miller leads the elite division going into the final leg with 115 points. He is just 15 points ahead of Rolly Cabaluna as Marchel Barcenal runs third with 78 points.
Cabaluna can still take away the overall title if he shows up and wins the race as Miller is unlikely to compete since his focus right now is his return to Xterra off-road triathlon via the Xterra Philippines on February 7 in Albay.
Raymart Tampus, on the other hand, leads the pack in the beginners class with 135 points followed by motocrosser-turned cyclist Donkey Sanchez with 90 points while Brian Lozano with 60.
Harlin Bardaje, one of Lapu-Lapu's veteran cyclists, spearheads the golden boys with 115 points followed by Ronald Taperla with 100 points and Bonifacio Sumalinog with 92.
The mountainbike open has Kent Inoc on top with 111 points as Reden Tampus stands at second with 93 and Leonard Talimporos at third with 59 points. (FREEMAN)
