CEBU, Philippines – Cebuana long distance runner Ruffa Sorongon and Kenyan Hapram Kilimo ruled their respective divisions in yesterday’s InsuRuns 2015 at the Sumilon Road in Cebu Business Park.
Sorongon sprinted to the finish line to beat Miscelle Balbuena. Sorongon won the 21K female class with a time of 1 hour, 35 minutes and 11 seconds, followed by Balbuena who was trailing behind him in 1:38:55.
Mereeis Ramirez settled for third place in 1:38:56.
Kilimo lorded it over in the men’s division with the best time of 1 hour, 12 minutes and 50 seconds. Eric Chepsirur placed second in 1:12:26 followed by Michael Largo in 1:15:14.
Alex Loloy dominated the 21K master’s class in 1:44:04 clocking, followed by Bonsito Tuyco and Rhyz Buac with 1:50:35 and 1:52:14, respectively.
Prince Joey Lee outpaced Kenyan Douglas Mwiti for the top spot in the men’s 12K. Lee clocked in 40 minutes and 34 seconds, while Mwiti registered the time of 40:34. Gerson Casinillo placed third in 51:51.
In the distaff side, Cherry Andrin finished first in 53:05. Jenneda Arcuino placed second in 57:39 followed by Cherry’s sister Lovely in 57:39.
Arnel Florentino grabbed the top spot in the men’s 6K with the time of 20:33, while Geneciel Saballa snatched the women’s crown with 27:01 clocking.
In the 3K class, Maryjoy Loberanis (11:50) and Ruel Algufera (10:22) emerged as the fastest in their respective divisions. (FREEMAN)
