SWU grabs 3 finals slots in CESAFI beach volley

CEBU, Philippines – Three Southwestern University squads advanced to the finals of their respective divisions in the Cebu Schools Athletic Federation, Inc. beach volley event yesterday at the SWU sand courts outside the Aznar Coliseum.

SWU secondary girls got a hard earned victory in the semifinals against University of San Carlos, 17-21, 21-17, 16-14.

With the win, SWU will battle University of San Jose-Recoletos in the finals as the latter disposed University of Southern Philippines Foundation, 21-14, 21-19.

SWU is also set for a double championship in the collegiate division as their men and women’s team marched to the finals with an impressive wins in the semifinals.

Rommel Pepito, Jewel Cabahug and Dave Cabaron were too much against the neophytes of University of the Visayas, 21-12, 21-16.

SWU men’s will face USJ-R who defeated USPF, 21-16, 21-14 in the semifinals.

On the other hand, the long-time partners Therese Rae Ramas and Floremae Rodriguez alongside Jewel Cabahug dumped USPF, 21-19, 21-10.

SWU’s women’s team clashes with USJR female beach spikers in the final battle after USJ-R decimated the University of Cebu, 21-7-21-7.

Meanwhile, the USPF spikers will take on University of San Carlos for the secondary boys title.  (FREEMAN)
