Organizers offer cash prizes to Hunat Triathlon winners

CEBU, Philippines - Cash prizes are at stake in the 'Team Challenge' as well as in the standard category of the Hunat Sugbu Triathlon, making the annual race more exciting as it returns to the municipality of Argao south of Cebu for its third edition on September 20.

To be contested for the first time, the team event has attracted seven teams namely Tri Lasang, WS Tri, Metafit, Omega Pro, Repro Optima, Tri Liloan, and Ford Forza.

Each team may have unlimited members with at least one female, which is mandatory. However, only the time of the top five finishers will determine the standings of each team. The aggregate time will be taken from the team's fastest female and the top four male finishers.

The champion will pocket P10, 000, while the second and third placers will receive P7,000 and P5,000, respectively.

Aside from the team challenge and the relay event, several age-groups will also be contested in the one-day joust. These are the 29-under, 30-39, 40-49 and 50-above male and the 29-under, 30-39 and 40-above female for the standard distance and the 19-under, 20-29, 40-29, 50-above made and the 19-under, 20-29, 30-39,and 40-above female for the sprint distance.

Participants in the standard category will be dealing with a 1.5-kilometer swim, 40K bike, and 10K run, while the sprint covers 750m swim, 20K bike and 5K run or half of the standard distance.

The top performer in the standard distance will receive P7,000, while the second and third will get P5,000, and P3,000. Medals are up for grabs for the top three in the sprint as well as in the relay. The finishers in all categories will receive medals.
