Stallions, Dragons, Boomerangs go 2-0 in CSCC E-League caging

CEBU, Philippines – The Lexmark Stallions, Supportsave Dragons and Telstra-Teletech Boomerangs stormed to their second straight wins in the 11th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament over the weekend at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Sylvester Millevo, who made history for sweeping the Rookie of the Year and regular season MVP awards three years ago, exploded with 34 points on top of six steals and five assists as Lexmark blasted the ePerformax Reds, 82-68.

Franco Angelo Cipriano chipped in a dozen markers laced with 10 rebounds,  five steals,  three blocks and two assists in an all-around showing for Lexmark, which never looked back after ripping the game aprt at halftime, 40-27.

Floyd Dean Singco and Robert Gilo connived for 25 points but their efforts were to no avail as ePerformax crashed to its second straight loss in as many starts.

In the other Elite Classic match, the Accenture Sharks escaped with a 58-56 decision over the Convergys Blue Devils for their first victory of the season.

Julian Kyle Suerte paced Accenture with 15 points, five steals and three assists followed by Archie Brian Vincen Batua with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Primo Paloma and Oscar Villamor, Jr. each scored 15 for the Blue Devils, who found themselves at an unfamiliar situation at the cellar with a woeful 0-2 start.

In the Evo League, the Telstra-Teletech Boomerangs prevailed over The Results Spartans, 78-65, in a clash of unbeaten squads, while the Supportsave Dragons also got off to a rousing 2-0 after drubbing the Teletech Titans, 80-66.

Sam Jordan Hermosa had a monster game for Telstra after finishing with 19 points, 16 rebounds, three assists and as many steals. Jaygard Vios also darted 19 markers for Telstra, which did not give the Spartans any breathing after crushing to an early 25-18 lead. Winston Pacaldo had 14 points, six rebounds, three blocks and two assists for the Spartans, who suffered their first setback in three starts.

Niño Belande, on the other hand, also had breakout performance with 35 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and four steals for Supportsave, which outclassed Teletech from the outset until the end to come up with a 14-point romp.

Adrian Neilburn Dy churned out 15 points, 11 rebounds and three assists, while Kevin Pineda added 14 points for Supportsave. Jonas Concepcion turned in 25 points, four assists and four steals, but could not prevent Teletech from slumping to its third consecutive defeat. — EBV (FREEMAN)
