CEBU, Philippines – Former two-division Filipino world champion Brian ‘Hawaiian Punch’ Viloria (36-4, 21KOs) barely breaks a sweat as he destroyed Omar Soto (23-12-2, 7KOs) in first round yesterday at the Florentine Gardens in Hollywood, California.
The 34-year-old Viloria showed that he is ready for another title contention for a possible fifth world championship belt.
In a report from boxingscene.com, Viloria dropped Soto three times in the first round before finishing the Mexican with a left hook at the 2:02 of the opening bell.
With a possible showdown against Nicaraguan and Ring magazine flyweight king Roman Gonzales in October looming, Viloria also welcomed the possibility of a rematch against Mexican tormentor Juan Francisco Estrada.
Estrada dethroned Viloria by taking away the Filipino boxer’s WBO and WBA flyweight titles via twelve round split decision last April 6, 2013 in Macau. (FREEMAN)
