CEBU, Philippines - Cebu's running enthusiasts will be put to the test in the second edition of the Talisay City Marathon slated on August 16 at the Talisay City Hall grounds.
The organizers made sure that they provide challenge to seasoned long distance runners by designing a route different from the other marathons here in Cebu.
Aside from the 42K marathon, the event also features 21K half-marathon, 10K and 5K fun run categories.
Prior to the actual marathon, the organizers also informed that there will be a simulation run dubbed as the ‘Lechon Run’ on July 29 also at the City Hall and will end at Campinsa.
Runners will be dealing with a complicated trail, flat and uphill route from the City Hall to Linao passing through Barangay Lawaan I, Tabunok, Lagtang, Jaclupan, Camp 4, Manipis, Camp 7, Campinsa, Tapul, and Maghaway.
“This is different from other marathons. The route is not common and it’s a semi-trail, yet runners will be running under a shaded area. Unique ni kay di ka ka hunat og duro, di pud controlled imu dagan,” said Cebu Ultramarathoners’ Club founding president Tony Galon.
Talisay Runners’ Club president Alex Dalusung said that the event is part of the celebration of the city’s Charter Day celebration and at the same time promote healthy lifestyle for Talisaynons.
Entry fee is pegged at P350 for 5K, P450 for 10K, P700 for 21K and P1,300 for 42K. Registration centers include Talisay City Sports Commission office located at the Talisay City Hall, RUNNR in Ayala Center-Cebu, C & J Optical at the Gaisano Fiesta Mall and at Kai Stickers.
