CEBU, Philippines- Team Parklane’s Cianyl Jamae Gonzalez relied on her fast swim that gave her the edge in claiming the female title as Paul Jumamil dominated the men’s class in the kickoff leg of Paramount Property Ventures' Team Tri Championships 2015 yesterday at the Sugar Beach Resort in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island.
Gonzalez admitted that she wasn’t feeling well during the race, but she managed to pull off a good start.
The veteran Louie Villacin tried to catch up on her on the bike part, but the 21 year-old Gonzalez stayed focused despite pedaling with heavy legs.
Gonzalez survived and takes her first crown of the year, while Villacin settled second as little-known May Salimbangon came out third.
For his part, Jumamil, a member of Alaska Aspire, was unstoppable in the men's side and finished the standard distance, way ahead of Parklane's Emmunuel Comendador as Jory Ycong wound up third.
Another Parklane team members, Kristiane Lim came out at the top in the men's 29 as Ralph Arche dominated the 30-34 class and Hannah Lou Galo reigned in the female 29-under division.
Tri Liloan's Denise Abcede won the female 30-39 division; Maria Victoria Tan of Repro Optima claimed the 40-above, while the men's 35-39 saw Expedito Dublin Jr. of Team Saat on top.
K1's Romulo Rosell took away the 40-49's gold. Merly Colmenares opted to do the sprint and won the top spot over Mary Ruth Reoma as Michele Garcia landed third while the men's top three were Alexander Ray Diaz,Adelino Buligan Jr. and Ralph Gregory Noval.
The team of John Philip Duenas, Rodrick Garcia and Ella Villacin won the relay.
The kiddie triathlon saw Kenzie Zureille Galo outsmarting her cousin Dhexia Myle Bersabal for the 8-under, while Kian Pimentel won the boys' side as Catherine Yu got the girls 11-12 title.
The rest of the winners were William Hann (boys 9-10), Lorraine Hann (girls 13-15), Eduard So (boys 11-12) and Ralph So (boys 13-15) (FREEMAN)
