CEBU, Philippines – NM Rogelio Enriquez, Jr. consummated a seven-game sweep to dominate the Rapid Chess Club Open Tournament over the weekend at the E-Mall Activity Center.
Enriquez subdued Venancio Loyola, Jr. in his final match to finish the 7-round Swiss system competition with the highest possible output of 7.0 points.
Rhenzi Kyle Sevillano, who stunned Carlos Moreno III in his last assignment, wound up second with 6.0 points, while Yves Christian Fiel bested Ramil Wadim and that was all he needed to clinch the third place honors with 5.5 points.
Rounding up the top eight with 5.0 points each were Loyola, Arnolito, Cadiz, Allan Salientes, Diego Claro, and Carlo Maraat. Those who made it to the top 12 with 4.5 points were Wadim, William Retanal, Jr., Moreno, and Marq Gabriel Balbona.
The two-day tilt, under the supervision of lawyer Richard Abangan assisted by FIDE Arbiters Marvin Y. Ruelan and Felix Poloyapoy, Jr., was made possible through the support of Joselito Posas and Oscar Abangan. — EBV (FREEMAN)
