CEBU, Philippines – Kenyan Isaac Simat and Ruffa Sorongan flashed their running might after ruling their respective divisions of the’Zonta Says No Run’ at the Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu yesterday.
Fresh from a successful stint last Saturday in the Run for Juan 2014: Takbo Para sa Pagbangon at the South Road Properties, Simat won the 10K men’s open after completing the race in 33 minutes and 52.12 seconds.
He was ahead of Joeyry Lee (34:09.27) and fellow Kenyan Douglas Mwiti (34:59.01) who placed second and third respectively.
In the women’s side, it was Sorongan who dominated the battle with the time of 42:58.71. Like Simat, she also ruled the women’s premier division of Run for Juan. Keisha Mae Delechos got the second place in 45:57.99, while Christy Sevilleno wound up third at 57:31.98.
Daryl Manos lorded it over in the 5K division with a 16:44.01 clocking, while Kenyan James Mbei placed second in 16:58.15 as Remark Bautista placed third with 16:59.23.
Andrin sisters Lovely Fe and Cherry also had a 1-2 finish in the women’s class with Lovely Fe posting 21:01:18, followed by Cherry with 21:36:21. Rizza Bausin wound up third with 22:10:51 clocking.
In the 3K division, John Cliff Debulsan came out the fastest in the men's side with 9:33 as Sarah Lee Cuizon triumphed in the women’s classi in 12:16. (FREEMAN)
