CEBU, Philippines - Don Bosco Technology Center and Team Erco both snared championship trophy in their respective divisions of the 1st Ceres Football Festival in Bacolod City.
DBTC of coach Glenn Ramos reigned supreme in the under-16 class beating another Cebu squad in Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, 3-2 in penalty shootout.
What made it more memorable for Ramos is seeing his son, Glenn Thomas copping the Most Valuable Player award.
The Bosconians topped their bracket in the elimination before outsmarting San Carlos City, 2-1 in the quarterfinals.
Ramos also decided to field his boys in the under-18 division, winning the silver medal after falling against Barili via sudden death.
“I did not expect that my team will go No.1 during the group stage. I let them join the tournament for exposure but they were really motivated to play well and win,†said Ramos.
The championship and runner-up finishes serve as redemption for Ramos after his team lost in the gold medal rounds of the recent Palarong Pambansa against National Capital Region.
Team Erco, for their part, grabbed the championship trophy in the ladies under-18 category with a 1-0 triumph against Sacred Heart Ateneo de Cebu. Lea Cepeda saved the day for Team Erco with his game-winning goal. (FREEMAN)
